Alesis strike pro release date12/6/2023 ![]() I know it sounds like Im ragging on it but Im really not trying to. They have a kit call "rock n'kit" and it had 2 metal kicks layered on top of each other. It was a little better through a PA but through headphones some instruments were just unbearable. Very digital sounding and not natural at all. Reverb had a bit more control but none of it sounded very good. The most usefulness it had was the ability to boost volume for headphone use. And then you had a threshold and DB boost. The compressor simply had named presets with no descriptive clues to what they meant except a few title eluded to what they were but very little audible difference between them. Like EQ the reverb and compressor have global settings. Another point of contention with me was the reverb and compressor settings. ![]() If you want that importing those sounds pre processed is the only way whether through VST or sound libraries purchased online. But nothing to take a dry recorded acoustic sound and make it sound like post processed sound. You could change tunings and had hi and low pass filters. And that is great but you will still be in the same boat as the same rules apply to imported samples. Now I know the module does sample importing. But rarely do you ever want to apply the exact same eq settings to each instrument. The only time I could get any eq response was by cutting frequencies. And you only have a hi frequency and low frequency. So you set the frequency you want to boost or cut and then choose your db level. You can turn eq on an off for each instrument but they all have to have the same setting. You don't even have EQ control over each instrument. You can change things like velocity parameters but you don't have any mic controls. I wanted to be able to change the sounds within the module and take a dry sounding kit and apply processing techniques to shape that sound and make it my own. And while yes you can import samples and use 3rd party software I wanted an all in one solution. My issue with it was that I didn't like any of the onboard sounds. I ended up ultimately selling my strike module after getting the mimic. But none of them had what I would call adequate headphone volume even with really easy to power cans. Oddly enough of the 4 modules I have had in my home 2 of them sounded much louder and had a very in your face sound. Debateable If it was necessary as it was issues with sound quality and volume of the headphone out. ![]() The module was a replaced a couple times. I bought my strike kit a little over a year ago.
